Black Russian Tomato Plants ($2.00 each)
These ‘black’ tomatoes originated in the area around the Russian Black Sea and when first introduced in Paris were considered a delicacy on par with Russian caviar. The somewhat indeterminate vines can easily be trellis-trained and make a great container plant. Prolific producers, when grown from seed the plants can take from 70 to 100 days to yield mature medium size fruit. These plants are approximately 30 days old. They have a superb complex earthy flavor which often has a slight saltiness and are excellent sliced or in a salad. After tasting Black Russian tomatoes you’ll want to grow them every year!
*Black Russian tomatoes are rarely if ever seen in retail nurseries.
